School Under Fire For Telling Kids To Pick ‘Plan B’ Career Because Dream Is ‘So Hard To Achieve’

Doctor? Dentist? Nope. Kids want to be a YouTube Star.

I’m sure a lot of people haven’t heard of being a YouTube star as a legit profession just a few short years ago. Yet now ask any kid what they want to be when they grow up and chances are they’ll say they want to be a YouTube star. It might sound crazy, but that’s exactly what’s going on, folks.

For those not in the know, a YouTube Star can sometimes also be called a YouTube Personality or a YouTube Celebrity. These people have gained popularity from their videos on the video-sharing website, YouTube. Some of these YouTube stars have become so popular and successful that they’ve also become filthy rich. How? Just by making 10-minute daily videos for their millions of subscribers to watch everyday. And yes, there’s a strong possibility that your pre-tween might be obsessively watching these videos at home, too. Just check their browser history.

The problem is, not every parent is happy that their kids have become so influenced by their favorite YouTube star. They can’t understand why they want to grow up to be just like them. In fact, one school has asked their students not to choose ‘YouTube Star’ as their profession of choice. Here’s why.

This school is asking kids to pick a career – but YouTube Star is not allowed.
